We can now uncross our fingers and our toes and breathe a huge sigh of relief. It’s been a battle over the last 4 months to get Thiago’s residency sorted out with immigration, and we finally have him back!
Thiago’s position at Te Aro is Head of Roasting. He will be working closely with Andy and Chris and is responsible for Te Aro’s Wholesale Coffee Roasting, Quality Control, Inventory, and a whole lot of other stuff.
With a long list of credentials (advanced Coffee Cupping courses, Brew Technique courses, Coffee Quality Certification, Centre of Excellence Coffee Farming, working in an espresso machine factory, Coffee Roasting, and 4 yrs exp as a barista), not to mention being an all round amazing guy, Thiago really is a huge asset to our team.
We met Thiago last year when he began pestering Andy to allow him to observe our roasting process. Andy doesn’t really enjoy company roasting, as it requires full concentration, but Thiago was persistent, and finally Andy agreed. He came back every day since that night, and we soon realized that Thiago, Andy and I shared the same goals and vision for Te Aro.
The rest is history.
So, what has he been up to for the last 4 months?? Sourcing coffee for Te Aro, of course! He’s been spending time meeting farmers and also trying to get a better understanding of the farming process, and has come back with a suitcase full of samples, and more arriving soon in the mail. He also took our “Big Bro” on a holiday to the Dattera Farm in Brazil…Pictures attached….
